چکیده
• The effect of electrical heating on oil recovery in carbonate rocks was investigated. Electrical increased from water-wet and oil-wet samples. causes a reduction contact angle surface tension. makes imbibition faster, improving early time production. Renewable powered CCS can give low emission yields depleted wells. New approaches for enhanced (EOR) with reduced environmental footprint are required to improve mature fields, when combined carbon capture storage (CCS) provide useful options resource maximisation during the net zero transition. is investigated as potential EOR method reservoirs. Samples were placed an apparatus surrounded by wire coil across which different DC (direct current) voltages applied. Monitoring both deionized water (DW) seawater (SW) into initially Austin chalk showed that imbibed rock faster heated presence magnetic field. This associated water–air over measured external sample. Without heating, 127° approaching conditions, 90°, 52 min, while 3 V, 6 9 V applied sample 17 mm length, reach same only 47, 38 26 respectively, further witnessed SW. ultimate factor (RF) DW 13% recorded RF 26% compared 2.8% 11% SW without heating. We propose effective way recovery, enhancing capillary-driven natural influx, observe renewable-powered may be one option fields footprint.

Surface Chemistry of Oil Recovery From Fractured, Oil-Wet, Carbonate Formations
Oil recovery by waterflooding in fractured formations is often dependent on spontaneous imbibition. However, spontaneous imbibition is often insignificant in oil-wet, carbonate rocks. Sodium carbonate and anionic surfactant solutions are evaluated for enhancing oil recovery by spontaneous imbibition from oil-wet carbonate rocks. Crude-oil samples must be free of surface-active contaminants to b...
متن کاملModelling of wettability alteration processes in carbonate oil reservoirs
Previous studies have shown that seawater may alter the wettability in the direction of more water-wet conditions in carbonate reservoirs. The reason for this is that ions from the salt (sulphat, magnesium, calsium, etc) can create a wettability alteration toward more water-wet conditions as salt is absorbed on the rock. In order to initiate a more systematic study of this phenomenon a 1-D math...
متن کاملHierarchical Economic Optimization of Oil Production from Petroleum Reservoirs
In oil production waterflooding is a popular recovery technology, which involves the injection of water into an oil reservoir. Studies on model-based dynamic optimization of waterflooding strategies have demonstrated that there is a significant potential to increase lifecycle performance, measured in Net Present Value. However, in these studies the complementary desire of oil companies to maxim...
متن کاملAn Experimental Study of CO2-low Salinity Water Alternating Gas Injection in Sandstone Heavy Oil Reservoirs
Several studies have shown that oil recovery significantly increased by low salinity water flooding (LSWF) in sandstones. However, mechanism of oil recovery improvement is still controversial. CO2 that develops buffer in presence of water is expected as a deterrent factor in LSWF efficiency based on mechanism of IFT reduction due to pH uprising. No bright evidence in literature suppo...
متن کاملInteractive cutaways of oil reservoirs
In the Oil and Gas industry, processing and visualizing 3D models is of paramount importance for making exploratory and production decisions. Hydrocarbons reservoirs are entities buried deep in the earth’s crust, and a simplified 3D geological model that mimics this environment is generated to run simulations and help understand geological and physical concepts. For the task of visually inspect...
